Ryan preferred slings to strollers until he was about one and a half, and we tried several slings. Our favorite was the Ergo Baby Carrier. Ryan is almost three now, and weighs a little over 30 pounds / 15 kg, and I can still carry him comfortably on my back. (He's too heavy now to carry in the forward position.)
We did not have the Ergo Baby until Ryan was about one, but our second boy is due in April, and we plan to get the infant insert for him.
